Prototypes / 2019

The first series of Vector Paintings was created in 2019 in the course of numerous experiments with the technique of screen printing on canvas. The aim was to avoid the time-consuming step of exposing a screen in order to generate a dynamically progressing work process. This resulted in a silhouette technique that could be executed with the help of two parallel knives on a wooden block. This enabled me to realise my works in a timely manner and to avoid lengthy exposure processes. In addition, this technique also allowed me to bypass imprecise translations by computer die-cutting or digital printing processes for exposure foils. My unadulterated vision of a vector and the gesture of the strokes could thus be transferred one-to-one onto the paper and, with the help of screen printing, onto the canvas.
